The 2018 Top 10 Richest In Malaysia

Forbes has came out with their public list of Malaysia’s 50 Richest. The list goes from USD300million net worth to the top 10 of Malaysia billionaires.



From #49 Norraesah Mohamad (MyEG Services) to #43 Mokhzani Mahathir (Sapura Energy) to #30 Tony Fernandes (Air Asia) to #12 Syed Mokhtar AlBukhary (MMC, DRB-Hicom:Proton).

Below is the top 10 richest among all in Malaysia. The Malaysia's billionaires 2018:

1. Robert Kuok USD14.8bil
Known as 'Asian sugar king' controlling 80% of sugar market in Malaysia via PPB Group (Malaysia) he sold his local sugar business to buy world's largest palm oil trading company Wilmar International (Singapore) that later buy Sucrogen (Australia) and enable Kuok to do sugar business again in a much bigger sense. Owner of Kuok Group, Kuok also owns more than ten Coca-Cola bottling factories in China. Via Kerry Group, Kuok own Shangri La hotel chain.



2. Quek Leng Chan USD7.2bil
Inherited his fortune after his father, one of the three founders of Hong Leong Co. eg: Hong Leong Bank, GuocoLand which developed Damansara City (DC Mall).

3. Ananda Krishnan USD7.1bil
Stakes in telco-provider Maxis, satellite TV firm Astro Malaysia Holdings, and oilfield services Bumi Armada.

4. Teh Hong Piow USD6bil
Founded and owns 25% of Public Bank since 1966. Also owns 44% of insurance business LPI Capital.

5. Lee Shin Cheng USD5.6bil
Chairs IOI Corp. doing oleo-chemicals & largest palm-oil plantations in Malaysia. His son leads IOI Properties including shopping malls, hotels, leasures and offices.



6. Lim Kok Thay USD4.7bil
Chairman of Genting, Resorts World Genting and all other Resorts World around the globe. Already launched Resorts World Catskills the largest integrated commercial casino resort in the USA, Genting has entered the new era with bigger than ever plan in dominating entertainment lifestyle, will be launching world's first Twentieth Century Fox World Malaysia Theme Park replacing the whole old ones below in Resorts World Genting in 2018, and adding new Resorts World Las Vegas in 2020. Under Genting Hong Kong that operates Star Cruises, the company acquired Zouk Club as well since 2015.



7. Chen Lip Keong USD3.3bil
This is rare, alternate gambling tycoon accumulating his wealth through his company NagaCorp. NagaWorld holds a casino license in Phnom Penh, Cambodia with a guaranteed monopoly to year 2035. NagaWold is in fact the largest casino resort in Indochina. Not enough with one, he opens up Naga2, the other casino resort literally just across the street connecting to NagaWorld via underground mall Naga City Walk.



8. Koon Poh Keong & Poh Ming USD3bil
Group CEO & executive vice chairman of aluminum company Press Metal, the Southeast Asia's largest integrated aluminium producer. Look up at the Petronas Twin Towers aluminium exteriors, manufactured by Press Metal.

9. Lau Cho Kun USD2.6bil
Largest shareholder in Hap Seng Consolidated doing diversified business. Eg: Hap Seng Plantations is the largest producer of sustainable palm oil in Sabah, Malaysia. Hap Seng Land is household name in Sabah. Hap Seng Star selling Mercedes Benz cars for 40 years already. Hap Seng Credit giving out loans to SMEs since 1982 and more.

10. Kuan Kam Hon USD2.5bil
He and his family (two sons) own 55% of Hartalega Holdings, world’s biggest and fastest nitrile synthetic-glove maker exported to more than 40 countries worldwide.
